Q1.

How do I get started?

Download the extension ZIP from our product page, extract it to a permanent folder on your computer, open chrome://extensions/ in Chrome, turn on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. Select the folder containing manifest.json.

Next, open Gmail and refresh the page. Compose a new message and click the SayIT Mail Tracker toggle to enable tracking. A private, anonymous account is provisioned automatically at the edge. No Cloudflare registration or API token is required.

Q2.

Why is the Open count still zero?

Email opens are detected when the recipient's email client downloads an invisible tracking image from our edge backend. However, email providers (including Gmail, Apple Mail, and Outlook) may proxy, delay, cache, or block external images depending on the recipient's security settings.

For guaranteed measurement, use tracked links or the explicit Read Confirmation action button, which log independent intentional clicks when clicked by the recipient.

Q3.

How do I schedule an email with tracking?

Prepare your message in Gmail and configure your SayIT Mail Tracker settings in the composer toolbar. Set the matching future send date inside the extension toolbar so that draft previews and tests are not miscounted. Then click Gmail's standard dropdown arrow next to the Send button and choose Schedule send.

Q4.

How do I use or sync on another PC?

SayIT Mail Tracker v2.0 is distributed as an unpacked release designed for quick, anonymous onboarding. Each installation creates its own private credentials on the local machine. To use it on multiple computers, install the extension on each machine following the standard installation guide.

Q5.

How do I remove my data?

Open the extension dashboard by clicking the extension icon or composer toolbar link, go to Dashboard → Account & alerts → Delete account. This permanently deletes the server tracking records and identifiers associated with your account. You can also delete individual tracking entries anytime from your dashboard list.

Q6.

How do I update the extension when a new version is released?

Because this version is distributed directly as an unpacked extension from SayIT, updates are installed manually. Download the latest ZIP file from our website, extract the new files into your existing extension folder (replacing the old files), then open chrome://extensions/ and click the circular Reload icon on the SayIT Mail Tracker card.

Q7.

Do I need a Cloudflare account or API token?

No. The Cloudflare edge backend is completely hosted and managed by SayIT. The extension handles edge authentication automatically using anonymous credentials generated on your machine. You do not need to sign up for Cloudflare or generate any API keys.
